I wrote and recorded the music on an airplane, flying home from Las Vegas. On the way there, I had pounded out a raucous, upbeat, go-get-‘em thrasher. I haven’t put vocals on it yet because it needs Highway Star vintage Ian Gillian and I ain’t Ian Gillian. Lol.
This tune. written on the way home, is “a bit” more somber, a woeful hangover of lost wages.
Thought I Had A Chance
I thought I might get lucky
Took my money to the strip
Was pretty sure I’d hit the jackpot
Oh, but it turns out, not on this trip
I really thought I had a chance
I thought I really had a chance
I really thought I had a chance
I thought I‘d really had a chance
Take your money
Out to Vegas
All the lights and flash and bells
I watched my money go to hell
Really thought I had a chance
I thought I really had a chance
I thought I’d really had a chance
I really thought had a chance
Really thought I had a chance (but you took all of my money)
I thought I really had a chance (ah, but you took my pain away)
I really thought I had a chance (thought I had a little chance)
But it turns out not much of a chance (much of a chance)
Thought I had a chance
I thought I had a chance
I never had a chance
